The Importance of Baseline Hearing Tests

When was the last time you had your hearing checked? If you’re like most adults, you probably received your last hearing test in grade school. In honor of Better Hearing and Speech Month, the staff at Lemme Audiology want to help spread the word about the importance of baseline hearing tests.

Taking approximately 10 to 20 minutes, a baseline hearing test allows our audiologist to compare your exam results if you begin to experience difficulty hearing. During your test, we check your ability to hear sounds at various pitches. If your results indicate that you are suffering from hearing loss, you may need additional testing to accurately diagnose the problem.

Recent hearing loss studies have revealed that the sooner you receive treatment, the easier it is to adjust your hearing. The longer you delay treatment, the harder it is for your brain to learn to hear again.

A baseline hearing test is recommended at around age 50, unless you experience hearing loss symptoms sooner. To schedule your baseline hearing appointment, contact Lemme Audiology in Altoona, Pennsylvania today.
