Meniere’s Disease and Vestibular Migraine have very similar symptoms and are often confused. Vestibular Migraine does not always come with a headache, despite the name. Most of the symptoms completely overlap between the two disorders.  Although they have similar symptoms, there is one big difference between the two: low frequency hearing loss that comes and goes.

Meniere’s Disease has low frequency hearing loss that comes and goes, almost always in one ear only. Vestibular Migraine rarely has hearing loss as a symptom.

Both Meniere’s Disease and Vestibular Migraine patients can experience the following symptoms:

  • Tinnitus (ringing in the ears)
  • Vertigo (the environment spinning around you)
  • Aural fullness (pressure or fullness in the ears)
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Dizziness
  • Imbalance

If you are experiencing concerns with any of these symptoms, it is important to see an audiologist to have a full evaluation completed. Since Lemme Audiology is the most complete comprehensive vestibular testing center in the area, you won’t have to travel far – just give us a call at (814) 941-7770 to schedule your visit.
